Spring-Summer 2016 FLA Newsletter (PDF)
Message from FLA President, Janene Gorham
As soon as the ice is out, I start listening for the loons. Sometimes we open the bedroom window a crack to let in the cool breeze and to hear the call that harkens spring is here.
Things green up, the water warms and the docks go in. Folks venture out in kayaks and canoes to fish. This is life on a lake in Maine.
Forest Lake is one of 150 lakes in Maine considered “at risk” by DEP for contamination from run off due to population growth and highways.
If you live on this lake, Forest Lake is yours.
If you drive to your camp here, Forest Lake is yours.
If you rent a summer camp for a week or two, Forest Lake is yours.
It is ours collectively to love, respect and preserve the pristine water that we are so lucky to live on.
Please join us in our efforts to continue to monitor our lake water. Get involved so that we may enjoy getting to know each other and share our knowledge.
See you on the Lake !
Sincerely,
Janene Gorham
President, Forest Lake Association
