Trustee Meeting Minutes – September 20, 2022

November 30, 2022 by FLA Admin

FLA Trustee Meeting Minutes
September 20, 2022
6:30 PM
West Cumberland Community Hall

Opening

In attendance: Jan, Heidi, Pat, Gino, Paula, Greg, Cathy, Janene, Ted and Debbie

Jan called the meeting to order at 6:34 PM.

Secretary Report: Paula

Paula first read the draft of the minutes from the June 13, 2022 meeting. Slight revisions were made. Ted made a motion to accept these minutes; Gino seconded the motion. All voted in favor.

Next she read the draft of the annual meeting held on July 23, 2022. A discussion occurred as to why we wait until next year to approve the minutes. It was determined to review and revise the minutes and then post them on the FLA website as pending. They will be put to the membership for approval at our annual meeting next year. Ted made a motion to recommend the amended meeting minutes to be approved at the annual FLA meeting in July 2023; Gino seconded the motion. All voted in favor.

Treasurer Report: Ted

Ted stated that $13,484.82 is our current balance which includes $10,000 in savings at Bath Savings Bank.

We collected $1,885 in dues so far since June/July, + $1,000 from the town of Gray.

$1,500 was paid by the town of Gray to CCSW as their portion of the grant.

We may have $1,500 payable to CCSW. Ted will look into that.

We may have to pay $100 in dues to Lake Stewards of Maine. That is what we used to pay in the past.

$5,000 is non discretionary funds, set aside for emergencies of some nature.

Gino motion to accept the Treasurer Report; Greg seconded the motion. All voted in favor.

Committee Reports

Newsletter committee – It is strong and ready to go with Heidi, Debbie and Cathy. Last year they struggled to get articles. One suggestion is to have people note stuff throughout the season. For example, a running tally of Kirk going around the lake. Also, it was suggested to Include some lake history piece in the newsletter.

Heidi will accept the role of lake historian!

It was noted that Debbie leaves October 12th so that the Welcome packets need to be done by then.

Dam committee – Don is not present tonight so this was tabled.

Special projects committee for dues structure – Janene met with Crystal Lake and Little Sebago and the conversation included good ideas. She will meet with them again before our next meeting.

Schedule meetings for year

We will use this same venue; we have a grant from the town of Cumberland to use it free of charge. It is available on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

Per the bylaws, there needs to be two public meetings and one annual meeting.

Lake association meetings to be held on following Tuesdays at 6:30 PM:

  • November 15, 2022 – public meeting
  • February 28, 2023
  • April 11, 2023 – public meeting
  • June 6, 2023
  • July 22, 2023- annual meeting

Old Business

Watershed sign posted – We still need one more sign posted for the watershed information on Cottage Road. Paula is responsible for completing that task. She will contact the Town of Gray public works and the town manager to purchase a sign post. The charge should be around $75.

Water quality – Janene did 5 water quality tests this year. The lake clarity is at 5 meters. The dissolved Oxygen is stable.

Plant patrollers – We need to figure out a way to get the plant patrollers more involved and coordinated. There was discussion about if we should we have a small budget for them; who the partollers are (Duncan, Jen, Don, Karen, Cathy, Janene); has the information and forms been filled in and passed on.

Paula will reach out to those already involved

Adjournment

Ted made a motion to adjourn the meeting; Heidi seconded the motion. All voted in favor. Jan adjourned the meeting at 7:34 PM.

Respectfully submitted, Paula Curcio
